Nursery started this half term looking at the theme ‘New Beginnings.’ Following the children’s interests we looked at farms and explored how fruit and vegetables are grown. We planted our own carrots and beans and have worked together to look after them. We made our own vegetable soup with everyone helping to prepare, chop and cook different vegetables and then blend them to make soup. We then enjoyed dipping bread into our soup and eating it for our snack. For another snack time we made our own fruit smoothies!
We have thought about lots of different things that we need to do to keep healthy. We looked at our teeth and how important it is to keep them clean by brushing them for 2 minutes twice a day. We melted chocolate and put it onto the base of some plastic bottles and then used a toothbrush and toothpaste to try to clean them. We found out that we needed to brush them really well to get all of the chocolate off.
We finished our half term with a chocolate week. Nursery were so excited watching the chocolate fountain and used some amazing language to describe what was happening. They were even more excited when they got to dip fruit and marshmallows into the fountain. The children created their own chocolate bar and then used their phonic skills to give it a name. Once their chocolate bar had set they wrapped it up. They looked very impressive! We finished the term with an Easter egg hunt, sorting them by colour and then swapping them for a little treat.
