How we do this

As school governors, we make important collective decisions and as a governing body we are responsible to parents and the community.

Our aim is to:

  • Ensure the school achieves high educational standards
  • Contribute to the School Improvement Plan and set priorities.
  • Set the school’s policies.
  • Appoint senior staff including the head teacher. Be involved in the recruitment of all other staff in consultation with the head teacher.
  • Control of the school budget to ensure money is spent wisely.
  • Ensure a broad and balanced curriculum which meets National Curriculum standards

We meet as a full governing body once every half-term but there are also two committees, Effectiveness and Resources which meet more regularly to decide how best to manage the school’s continual improvement. In addition we visit the school during lessons to monitor and support the development and quality of teaching. Representatives from the governing body can be seen at most school assemblies, events and parents evenings.
