What an amazing start to the learning in Year 1. This term we have enjoyed sharing stories and poems. We performed a poem to the whole school and came up with our own actions. During Outdoor Learning week we completed lots of activities using the local school environment – completing portraits, maths investigations and science investigations.
In Science, we have been learning about different materials and completed an investigation into which natural items float and sink. We have identified and sorted natural materials and developed an understanding of their uses in the real world.
We had a great time on our trip to Cuffley spotting all sorts of interesting plants and creatures. We particularly enjoyed making mud rubbings with different materials using charcoal from the fire pit. We took part in the blindfold challenge and had to use our other senses to navigate the obstacle course. It was very tricky but we helped each other and didn’t give up.
