Review of Year 4 Autumn 2

It has been a very busy half term in Year 4.  We have packed a lot into the last few weeks.

In Art we have been looking at the painting ‘Four Trees’ by Egon Schiele. We spent time practicing the different elements of the painting such as wax resist, watercolour blending and forming trees using chalk, charcoal, and oil pastels. We then created our own paintings in his style and they look fantastic!

In Religion, we have been finding out about how other countries around the world celebrate Christmas. We found out lots of interesting similarities and differences with our own traditions here in the UK. We learned that in Mexico, they have special pinatas and so we had a go at making our own versions using Modroc. It was very messy but a lot of fun and now they are hanging in our classroom ready to be smashed on Epiphany (January 6th) just like in Mexico!

In Design we have been learning new stitches in preparation for sewing the seam of a reusable T-shirt bag. So far, we have practiced the running stitch and the back stitch and learned how to thread a needle! It was tricky but we all got there in the end. Next, we will learn the blanket stitch and decide which of the three we will use for our seam.
