At Panshanger Primary School we follow the National Curriculum Programmes of study for Design Technology, and it is our aim that in Design Technology our pupils:
- develop creative thinking in children and enable them to talk about what they like and dislike when designing, making and exploring designs;
- talk about how things work, and to draw and model their own ideas;
- select appropriate tools and techniques for making a product, whilst following safe procedures;
- explore attitudes towards the manufactured world and how we live and work within it;
- develop an understanding of technological processes, products, their manufacture, and their contribution to society;
- explore how products have changed and developed over time to meet greater demands and differing needs;
- foster enjoyment, satisfaction and purpose in designing and making and pride in the finished product
Opportunities to practice and achieve the skills above are taught through a wide range of exciting topics.
