Subject Leader: Mrs Waring emma.waring@panshanger.herts.sch.uk At Panshanger Primary School we follow the National Curriculum Programmes of study for English, and it is our aim that in English our pupils can:
PhonicsOur phonics teaching follows the Anima Phonics Letters and Sound Updated scheme. Phonics teaching begins in Nursery and continues through to Year 2. Children participate in daily lessons to learn the 44 phonemes of the English alphabetic code and the different ways of writing them (graphemes). The skills of blending and segmenting are practiced through a range of reading and writing activities. In the summer term of Year 1 children undertake the Phonics Screening Check. It is important when supporting your child with phonics to use pure sounds. For a demonstration of each sound please visit the Anima Phonics sound board. https://phonicsresources.net/Online/Resources/SoundBoard2/
